When you came to us following a failed inspection due to an inoperative license plate light bulb, we performed the routine checks on this issue. Typically when a light is out, it is due to the bulb being defective, but yours was an LED fixture. Even after we installed the new assembly, it was still not functioning. At that time we went ahead and checked for power at the connector, which we found wasn't receiving any power. We verified that both the old and new assemblies worked with direct power and ground provided. We advised that we would reinstall the original assembly and not charge for the new assembly, but we would have to charge for further labor and diagnosis to determine if the wiring was damaged or the module was defective. At that time you declined further diagnosis and that you would take the vehicle to the dealer where it was under warranty.
